My Take -Death

I explored the ways of torture and killing in the past to present. I discovered a few thing unexpectedly and was surprise how some of the devices can to be and why they stopped.

1615 The Cucking Stool


The cucking stool...

A method first used to obtain information from prostitutes and criminals by humiliation. Consists of a chair attached to a beam which dunks a person in and out of a body of water by a another person pulling on a rope controlling the lever.

1792 Guillotine


The guillotine...

Once popular form of execution in France in 1789 named after the doctor who invented it. Used for Sheep and cattle then humans later for punishment, It was thought to be the most painless execution method at the time

1887 The Electric Chair

The electric chair...

This is the most commonly know death penalty and is also the symbol of execution. The chair was invented after a dentist witnessed another man die after touching an exposed wire He then attached an electric current to one of his dentist chairs and the method was born.

1888 Lethal Injection
Lethal injection...

After the chair, people wanted a less painful way of killing a prisoners so a doctor out of New York decide to injected and over load a person systems with a high dose of drugs. death by injection now is the most common and popular way to die.

1931 The Gas Chamber


The gas chamber...

This popular form of death was originally used to kill mental and physically disabled people as well as political terrorists. The chamber was also used by the Nazi to kill Jews in death camps during the Holocaust
